Hey guys, lets get this board filling.

I had my first 2 tatts done 10 years ago.
I recently got the bug again.
Every tatt i've had done i took the dressing off after the hour, cleaned it and used savlon.
I find you heal really quick with savlon.

Well thats my 10cents worth.

Now go get inked

I agree, i have a custom back piece under going and every stage ive had done i have found savlon is the best way to heal it!!

im not sure if you are meant to use it but i would certainly recomend it too. Smile

What tattoos do you have?

I've always used Savlon, but I still seem to take 10-13 days to heal after a session. My mates have all suggested used Prep H, but I personally don't fancy putting piles cream on my tatts!
I was interested in Tattoo Goo, but I've not yet found a stockist. Same with H2Ocean - it claims to make you heal really fast, but I'm not sure you can get it in the UK.
Faster healing = more ink in less time... Bring it on!

the best stuff besides tattoo goo for myself is just vitamin E ointment or Alovera oint, To bigredish. Im not to sure about the Prep H as that shrinks pores and you do not want to do that. Healing as natural as possible is the key.[/i]

.For right now the only thing that you can do is continue to use your scent/color free lotion. Unfortunately there is no wonder cure lotions or gels that you can use, and again unfortunately you will probably have to go and get it touched up. Just chalk it up to future knowledge. If you have any questions or anything like that go ahead and hit me up.

`Just wanted to mention you should watch out for Savlon, it has a short shelf life and should be used as soon as you open it and only for a few days, then throw it out. I used to live in Ireland so I used it for my septum piercing. But Savlon's anti-bacterial powers start wearing off as soon as it's exposed to air so get rid of it after a few weeks, otherwise it can be an inhibiter for bacteria.

Crackly ink usually means healing cracks. Were your tattoos under bra straps or rubbing against your shirt? That usually pulls the ink right out of your skin. I had the same problem for the roses on my shoulders. Get them touched up in a few months and take precautions to sleep on your stomach shirtless without a blanket and not wearing a bra and everything should turn out just fine.

I got my 1st tattoo on Tuesday - I am using Savalon.
I took the cling film off after 4 hours - and claned with warm water, I washed the tattoo 3 times for the first few days - before starting to use Savalon.
My father has many tattoos, and he is helping me with my aftercare.

My only worry, is now, my tattoo is itchy, but there is NO scab forming, just a small "crusty" layer or skin...
The tattoo feels rough, so i know something is there, but not a big scab...
Is this normal?
I am kind of worried, as its my first tattoo...
Thanks in advance x
Emi

i have more than i can count . i know for a FACT the itching is 100% normal so dont worry yourself about that , and not all ''scabbing'' on tattoos is like your average skinned knee style scab , some is just like 'silver skin'' some is like a thin crusty layer , some wont scab at all in my expreience !

hi all, relatively new here, read through some of the posts here, couldnt see anything about, bepanthan, we recomend our customers use this cream, it assists healing, reduces scabbing by about 70-80 % over the last three years i have seen great results, the only draw back being that a very small amount of people are allergic to the cream, this manifests itself quickly with red and very itchy skin, having said that, simply stop using it if you have a reaction, use either savlon or palmas unscented coco butter lotion. any questions feel free to ask.
cheers,
simon
