				| I'm about to get my 5th tattoo, the first on my rib cage. I was just wondering how people's experiences with getting a rib tattoo were. How was the pain compared to other tattoos? Was it uncomfortable to be lying down for a long time?
Oh, and I'm a bit overweight, so I just wanted to know if there's anything I should keep in mind.
(For reference , I have both shoulder blades tattooed, my upper back, and my sternum)

				| `sooner or later i plan on getting my family crest from each side of my family on my ribs, one on each side. i heard it's extremely painful. then again people said that about getting the back of your hand done, and i was reading a book the whole time, didn't feel much...

				| `I've heard that the sternum is almost as bad as the ribs. My first and only tattoo (so far) is on my ribs, and it hurt a lot, but not to the point of me passing out or tearing up. It drove me crazy and i couldn't wait till it was done... so yes it's very painful, but in all reality if you really want the tat the pain is totally worth it.

				| It also depends on the design. The outliner hurts like hell. When the shading starts it is not bad.

good luck and post a pic if you want.

				| I have my right side done from just under my tit to my hip bone. It took 3 hours and it hurt pretty bad by the end. Mostly because the outline is a thick line on purpose and when he put the color in next to that it hurt like hell. I tend to tense up when it hurts, so by the time it was done I could barely walk. It looks amazing though so the pain was worth it and I'm designing the piece I want on my other side right now. Just make sure you are comfortable so you wont move or wiggle.
